Discover what sets United Methodism apart.

In this book, Laceye C. Warner invites you to a richer understanding of Wesleyan Christianity so you can have a clear sense of identity, better express your own beliefs, and deepen your connection with the United Methodist Church. She introduces you to important values and characteristics that make the Wesleyan way distinctive, including emphasizing God’s grace for all and sanctification as tangible transformation in your life, your community, and all creation. Warner and a comprehensive Leader Guide, making this perfect as a six-week group study. A companion book, Who We Are and What We Believe: 50 Questions about The UMC, is also available.

Refreshingly readable! Laceye Warner illumines God’s story of love as told by Methodists to anchor and renew Methodist identity. Great resource for learning what it means to be Methodist.

Bishop Connie Mitchell Shelton

In a world longing for belonging and purpose, Knowing Who We Are discloses the results of our United Methodist ecclesial DNA of grace, our family’s genealogy of love, and our missional birth story of compassion. Dr. Warner’s historical and theological clarity will engage individuals, small groups, and pastors distilling the United Methodist way!

Laceye Warner asks, “to what tenacious holiness is God calling us and our communities?” While I have never had the benefit of being a student in one of Dr. Warner’s classes, she has been a professor to me through her writings. This book is her finest yet, a masterclass in reawakening the best of Methodism for the 21st century. Knowing Who We Are is essential reading for pastors, congregations, and fresh expression practitioners who want to see a missional movement of “Holy tenacity” and an inclusive church that seeks to be “friends to all.”
